My absolute most favorite toy - the remote

It's been a busy couple of weeks... The madness has begun now that I'm back to teaching. It was a difficult transition, but I've made it through 2 weeks of work. It's good knowing he is typically home with his dad. They have a daily routine going, and Colin loves his days with Jack. I'm ready to get home by 3:30 when the kids leave!! I have a great group of kids this year, and I love my huge classroom. 

I'm feeling less nauseous and tired the further along the pregnancy gets. I have my 12 week appointment on September 16. It's going by so fast! I had a lady in Target ask me if I was pregnant already. I thought that was a bit gutsy of her!! Good thing I am!

I just thought I would update about Jack at eight months quickly. He continues to be more and more mobile all of the time. He can now "cruise" around all furniture and walk while he is holding on to you. He has such a fun personality, and it comes out more the older he gets. He's really strong, and he loves to climb. We recently took the bumpers out of his crib because he was using them to climb when he woke up. I was afraid he was going to get out. He can climb into the bathtub on his own. It doesn't happen often, but he has a temper when he gets mad about something. He will arch his back and scream. He loves to talk. He is constantly babbling. He will yell and scream and then go to whispering. He loves to make loud noises by banging his toys against the wood floor or the wall. He learned how to hold his own sippy cup while he drinks juice or water. He can stand unassisted for a few seconds at a time. He loves to cuddle, give hugs and slobbery wet, open-mouthed kisses. He is constantly drooling and soaking his clothes (hence why he is naked in many of the pictures that I post on here). Another tooth popped through on the bottom, which makes three. I think I can see the top two under the gums as well, so I'm sure they will be making an appearance any day now. He is such happy and smiley guy!

I figured now would be a good time to do an update. I head back to school tomorrow after a wonderful summer vacation. I'm excited about the new school year, but I'll miss my little boy soooooo much!!! He's so much fun, and I love love LOVE staying home with him.

This is the new high chair that I had talked about getting - I love it! It makes WAY less of a mess than that clip on one that we were using before. Maybe we will get the clip on one back out when the new baby is old enough to use this one. By then (hopefully) Jack won't make as huge of a mess while he's eating. :)

Party of Four

Well, here is our big news:

We are expecting baby #2 in late March. The official due date is March 29th, but it will be a scheduled c-section, so he/she will probably be born a week earlier. We couldn't have been more SHOCKED, but we are super excited and happy. We know that our hands will be full and our lives will be crazy for a few years to come, but it will be so fun. We wanted our kids close in age, and that is what we are getting! It definitely was not planned, but just like Jack, we trusted that the timing would be perfect whenever it happened. :) The two should be about 15 months apart...oh my!!!

We brought Jack to the doctor's office today to get the ultrasound. They enjoyed seeing him, and he loved socializing with all of the employees. He laughed and waved at all of them. He was the second largest baby they have ever delivered, so I don't think they will forget him. 

He/she measured to be 7 weeks and 1 day today. The heartbeat was a strong 148. At the initial ultrasound for Jack, he measured 6 weeks, and his heartbeat was 112. 

Last week when we returned from our TN trip, I was SO tired. I assumed it was because we stayed up so late and then obviously had to get up early with the kids. I was taking multiple naps a day. Then one morning (Tuesday, August 4) I woke up and felt really sick. Then it dawned on me that maybe I should take a pregnancy test, which that purple line showed up REALLY quick and REALLY dark! Since then, I've been getting waves of nausea and fatigue, but it is a good sign that things are healthy.

Funnies

Jack loves to crawl through things. If I'm sitting on the floor with my knees up, he always crawls under them and then back through. Today he kept going back and forth through the activity table. He also crawls under bar stools and anything really. He loves it! I think I'm going to buy him one of those tunnels from IKEA.

Colin would not let me live this one down. On our way into Gatlinburg, there were a bunch of people pulled off to the side of the road looking at these wild elk. We pulled over after driving through the night for 12 hours to look at them. Colin took this lovely picture of Jack and I in front of one of the elk. Then he asked me to take his picture. Meanwhile, he started walking away. So I took their picture. This is what I got:

Needless to say, he was not and still is not happy that he didn't get a good picture of Jack, him, and the elk. I didn't want to get any closer. Plus I didn't understand why he asked me to take their picture, but then preceded to walk away from me. So this what he got. As a payback, this is what he decided to do:

We took Jack to Disney, and the highlight of his day was eating lunch! He loves it when Colin makes airplane noises while he feeds him.

Riding it's a small world. He loved it! I think that he thought he was in an episode of Baby Einstein. He just stared at everything with his mouth wide open. He was in awe.

We had a great time in Tennessee. The chalet was awesome. The whole trip was really laid back and so much fun! We had parties each night. This night we were playing cornhole on Kelly's wii. Lots of fun, great food, laughing, talking, and relaxing. Can't wait until next year's trip!

Family pic on top of the mountain. For hours that night Jack was repeating ba ba ba ba ba very loudly.  That's why his mouth is open! He was cracking people up when they walked passed us and heard him yelling from his stroller.

Apparently we have a sweet tooth on our hands. We had the cinnamon roll recipe that I posted on here a while back and decided to let Jack have a few little bites. I'm sure you can tell that he LOVED it!
