9 Months

I took some pictures today in honor of Jack being 9 months old. NINE MONTHS! 3 months until a year. That is just crazy! Nothing much has changed since my last post. We have a very happy and energetic baby boy. He is climbing like crazy, up and down the couch and anywhere he can. In the mornings when Colin isn't here and I'm trying to shower and get ready, I've resorted to sitting him in his high chair just outside the bathroom with some yogurt snacks. It's the only thing that keeps him still and happy while I'm getting ready for work. It makes my mornings SO much smoother, let me tell ya. Before, I was using his exercauser, which he would tolerate for approximately five minutes. Then once he decided he was tired of that, he would try to launch himself out of it onto the bathroom floor. Not good! But the highchair is working wonderfully for us both in the mornings! Just thought I would clarify why the highchair is in our bedroom in some of these pictures!

Jack LOVES books, which does a teacher's heart good! He loves being read to and will sit in your lap and listen to books for as long as you will read them. He pulls up to his book stand and chooses books when we are playing in his room. He prefers any Eric Carle book - those are his favorites. He really enjoys the ones that you can touch and feel too, as well as the ones that have mirrors on the pages. He is also starting to turn the pages (sometimes a little too soon). Jack is changing rapidly! He is starting to repeat lots of words! The newest are dog (daw), paci (puh) , and night night (nigh nigh). He still can't get the ending consonants on any of the words, but it's so great to hear his little voice forming sounds! He understands lots of what we say. If you tell him to get a drink, he will pick up his cup and drink. If you ask him if he wants to read a book, he will go to his book shelf and get one. If you ask him where is the ball, he will get a ball if there's one close by. We just can't believe how much he is learning. It's so fun to watch! Both days at day care this week he took a BOTTLE with formula. He has wanted absolutely nothing to do with a bottle for at least a month now. Apparently he changed his mind. Colin takes him on Wednesday for his nine month well baby appointment, so I'll update after that on his stats. Wish I could be there, but I won't miss the shots part!

Today we went to a birthday party of a little boy of a guy Colin works with at the fire station. Jack enjoyed playing in the pool. He just loves the water. It took him a while to figure out that it wasn't shallow like the bath tub and that he couldn't just crawl around. It doesn't bother him at all when he gets splashed or goes under. He comes up with a big smile.

I had my 12 week appointment this week. All is looking great so far. I think the heart beat was 158, so a little higher than Jack's was. I'm pretty sure his was consistently in the 130s. We are scheduled for the anatomy ultrasound on October 26th, just a short month away. What's your vote - girl or boy??

Life is crazy right now! I cannot find the time to get on here and blog. I've been extremely tired lately and unable to feel rested. Even when my parents were here and I was sleeping in an extra 2+ hours, napping, going to bed by 8, and not cooking or cleaning a thing, I was still so exhausted. I thought it was all part of this pregnancy, but just found out yesterday that I've had a UTI. Never had one before, but it turns out that it is very common during pregnancy. That explains it I guess! Hopefully now I'm on the road to much more energy! I'm actually very thankful that is all it was. The nurse left a very concerning message on my cell phone that I got Friday during my lunch, saying that she needed to go over some results with me and to call back as soon as I could. Last week I had just had some routine blood work taken. I immediately called back, but they were closed for an hour an a half for lunch. I had another teacher watch my class while they were at recess so I could call them back. Of course all 3 principals walked right by me talking on my cell phone while my kids were at recess... But after I heard that message so many horrible things were going through my head, so I was very glad to hear it was just an infection.

Anyways, I thought I would jump on and update a little about Jack. He is growing and growing, and as always, is so much fun. As I write this, he is sitting with a book behind the curtain. I can just see his little legs sitting there. So funny! He has started to mimic what others are saying. The words he says somewhat consistently are mama, dada, ball, bye-bye, hi, and Jack. He definitely knows what all of those mean. He also repeats 'ya' when you said it, but he has no clue what it means. He just knows how to say it. He has also been doing the sign for more (when prompted) when he wants more food. He loves to walk while holding on to your hands, and he goes so fast.  As he has been from the start, he is always on go and wanting to be discovering new things. He loves to wave and clap. He has three teeth on the bottom now, and the top two have sprouted through just barely. He's been somewhat more irritable than usual lately due to teething. His hair is getting so long, but Colin wants to wait to get it cut. :) He eats about 3 jars of baby food a day. He doesn't take a bottle at all anymore. On the rare occasion that he does have milk while I'm at work, he takes it from his sippy cup. Typically he just eats baby food, cheesy puffs, fruit puffs, and yogurt melts while I'm working.
