A Good Place For a Nap

Today I built Jack his new toy car that he got from the Senasec's. After a few laps around the kitchen he was worn out. This is literally just about the first time he has ever just fallen asleep without being rocked. Hopefully it wont be the last. How hilarious!

****UPDATE: Just like the doctor predicted, he ran a fever from Monday through Thursday, then today (Friday) he broke out in the rash on his belly and back. This confirms that it was indeed roseola. He went back to school today since the rash indicates that the virus has left his body and that he is no longer contagious.****

Just a quick update before I go to sleep... Jack was sick today. Yesterday we had plans to go out to dinner with some friends. We bathed little Jack and I wrapped him up in a towel and brought him to his room to get him dressed and ready to go. I noticed he was shivering and his little lip was even quivering. We have a little space heater in his room, and we always turn it on when he is getting out of the bath. He felt a little warm, so we took his temperature, and it was 100.4 degrees. That is as high as it has ever been, but it really still isn't considered a high fever, so we just chalked it up to teething. The kid is literally getting all of the rest of his teeth at once! At dinner... well, let's just say it was NOT a relaxing dinner for us! He stood up in his high chair and refused to sit there and eat. He is usually fairly well behaved when we go out to eat. He fell asleep on the way home and went straight to bed a little earlier than usual.

This morning he woke up around 7:00, and I took his temperature - this time 103.1 degrees! I gave him some Motrin right away. He laid on my lap for a good hour, not moving. Just wanting to cuddle. Colin had already left for work and then he pretty much turned right back around to come stay with him. By the time he got home, I had to rush out to make it to work. Then he had to head right back to Ocoee (where he works) to take Jack to the doctor because that's where his doctor is. So then, he was going to have to go come back from the doctor. Then head straight back to Ocoee for a third time when I got home from work so he could go back to work. Sooooo, I just got sub plans together then met them at the doctor and stayed home with Jack the rest of the day.

He was starting to feel somewhat better by the time Colin got home this morning. He was completely still with his eyes closed on my lap, just pitiful. Then he heard the garage door open and he perked up. Then when he saw his dad walk through the door he got a huge smile on his face. It was so cute!

The doctor tested him for both Type A and B flu, and they both came back negative. She *thinks* it is roseola, which means he will run a fever for a few days, then break out in a full body rash once he is no longer contagious. His ears and lungs were both clear. Pretty much his only symptom is a fever, chills, and tired. This is a kid that usually never stops, and all he wants is either to be asleep or cuddling. He did have a couple hours of reprieve in between Motrin doses, so we did get to play a little bit. Poor little guy, we just feel so bad for him. Hopefully he feels better SOON! I'm off to get some sleep. He conked out for the night at 6, so there's no telling when he might be up!

I added several new pictures onto my flickr photo stream. It should be popping up at the right of the website...or it SHOULD be if I can figure it out! There were way too many to upload into one blog post (a sign that I'm way behind).

As is true every time I get on here to blog, our little one year old is growing, learning, and changing so fast. He understands a lot of what we say. I can tell him to go get something specific like a book or a toy animal out of his room, and he sometimes comes out with the thing I requested. He can sort of tell you if he needs a new diaper. If you ask him if he needs one, he typically shakes his head no and says, "no". He can mimic the sounds of a cat, cow, monkey, and snake. He can hold up 1 finger if asked how old he is. He has lots of various tricks, but he gets shy apparently when we are around others. He just looks at us like he has no clue what we are talking about sometimes. Stubborn! His teacher just taught him how to blow kisses this week. He got moved up to the next classroom at school. I was sort of sad, because he really really really loved his teacher, but he seems to be transitioning well to the new environment. In his new classroom, they order them school lunches, so he has been able to try lots of new foods. The teacher told me that he ate like a "football player" when I picked him up this week. He absolutely loves other little people. He gives hugs to kids everywhere we go, even strangers. The other night we were walking through a store when we passed 2 little boys who were probably about 3 and 5. First he embraced the 3 year old, then he moved on to his brother. Luckily, their mom thought it was so cute, and she wasn't weirded out by a random baby hugging her kids!

I have several videos that I will be uploading as soon as we get a necessary cable for our new computer. Things are not slowing down around here, thus my negligence to the blog once again. I do have Monday off for MLK Day, so maybe I can get caught up.

All is great with the pregnancy. My blood pressure and her heart rate were great at the last appointment. I told the doctor to make note of how sick (throwing up all day) I was the day Jack was born. Hopefully they can figure something else out for when I have Grace!! She is super active these days, and I love feeling her move all around. I'm getting very big!!

I just got home from my 28 week follow up ultrasound. The placenta is definitely no longer covering any part of the cervix. Let me tell you, that was such a relief that I wanted to cry!!! I was on several restrictions, and there were so many risk factors for both myself and Grace. I'm SO happy that is one less thing to worry about. Little Gracie looked great. I got some pictures that I will try to scan soon. It was hard to get any good face pictures because her two legs were in front of her face plus the umbilical cord! She is head down with her legs curved across my stomach. She was in the 77th percentile, and she measured 28 weeks and 6 days.

Well, I'm off. I have mail to go through, grocery shopping to do, and various other errands and household chores. More pictures to come from our awesome Christmas break!
