One Sweet World: May 2014

Colin mentioned wanting to do something special with Jack, and I had this idea. They built a box together. It is seriously of professional quality. I don't know why I'd expect anything less from the 2 of them, haha! They both enjoyed making this super cool box!

These were taken last weekend when I had church nursery duty.

For Teacher Appreciation week, one of my sweet students got me a Cracker Barrel gift card. The kids were thrilled...their favorite place to dine out! I also got some of the sweetest notes from students and parents this year!

Jack and I headed to the library after school on Thursday. He loves that place! At one point, I was sitting and reading a book I had found for myself. I heard him go, "Excuse me, does anyone work here who could help me find some pirate books?" I didn't even look up from my book. hah

Family Movie Night

Erin wrote "MOM" all on her own the other day. I was amazed.

Colin visited Jack's class Friday to talk to them about his job, since they are learning about community helpers. Jack was so proud to have his daddy there. Colin enjoyed it, too!

Mini Session in the park:

We've talked about going to the beach for a while, but had never made it happen. We didn't know if it would be stressful or chaotic or what... Didn't really know what to expect, but always wanted to take the kids. We decided to go at the last minute yesterday. We went to Siesta Key Beach. Everyone had a lot of fun. It wasn't stressful, per se, but it definitely wasn't relaxing either. I think we will frequent the beach over the summer! The kids absolutely love the sand and water! The waves were pretty rough yesterday, so that made me kind of nervous, seeing as how our kids don't have a lot off fears. They were all smiles all day! ...and then absolutely beat by the time we got home, which is always a bonus for us. I think we spent maybe 3 hours there. It was fun!

This was made by my mother in law for me for Mother's Day. Such a sweet slideshow with a song that is SURE to make you sob your eyes out. Watching this is kind of like going through all of my pictures on my computer. It really makes you realize how precious time is and how fast it is flying and how my newborn babies are growing so quickly. Makes me sad and happy at the same time.

Today Colin was scheduled to work. He got up and got ready for work and left this morning. I commented how I was sooo tired (nothing unusual from any other early morning), so he said he would skip his shower and entertain the kids so I could sleep in a little bit. Then he headed out at the normal time. I was slightly bummed because we have a Mother's Day tradition, but I didn't stew on it much just because that's part of the job. Plus the kids were gearing to make me have a great day. Grace greeted me with a dollar and a picture she had drawn for me. Jack was brainstorming things he could do for me for Mother's Day. He even called Colin to ask him for ideas. I started some laundry and then unloaded some dishes, which is part of my morning routine. I started putting the silverware away, and as I turned around to tend to one of the kids, there was Colin standing in the kitchen with flowers and Starbucks. It completely surprised me! So sweet... We had such a perfect day.

We got ready and headed to Whispering Canyon Cafe at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. After brunch we walked around the property. I want to stay the night sometime! It's such a nice place.

Jack did this at the gym this week.

Jack made me this one morning this week completely on his own. I loved it! So thoughtful, sweet, and creative. He got me a glass of water, and that's what the lemon is for. He even attempted to slice the lemon (with an apple slicer).
