First Trip to the Beach

Once again, I'm very behind on blogging. I had my first week back to school, and by the time I get home, all I want to do is hold my precious baby! So blogging will probably continue to take a back burner, but I will get caught up. This is from a week ago when we took Jack to see his Grandma Moller. I still have several blogs that I've started that need finished and published - his baptism and my parents' and sister's visit here! And on a side note, great news - Jack officially sleeps thru the night consistently!!! 

We had our first night away from home with Jack trip to Venice this week to visit Grandma Moller. We had a great time, and it was a bonus that Jack slept great in his pack and play. Colin and I even got to relax out by the pool (twice!) and have lunch together while Grandma hung out with little Jack. We hadn't got to go out to eat together by ourselves since Jack was about a week old. 

 Jack got even more oohing and aahing over him and attention than he usually gets! Everyone thought he was so cute and happy! The four of us went out to dinner with Uncle Mike and Great Grandma and Grandpa McCormick the first night we got there. They kept commenting on how smiley and alert he is. What can I say - the kid loves conversation!  I think he gets that from me. :) He loves to look at you and smile as long as you are talking to him. We all had lots of fun, and it was nice for us to spend time with family and to get away from home for a bit!

Katrina, Jessica, and Kaelan come to Florida

They came to visit us and to meet baby Jack for Valentine's Day weekend. Every time we get together it's like no time has even passed! We stayed up late the first night talking and eating Valentine's candy. :) Colin and I went to pick up Katrina from the airport on Friday night, and it was a crazy coincidence that Jessica happened to be about a mile behind us on the turnpike. She was driving down from South Carolina and we were driving back from the airport. We couldn't make that happen again if we tried!! I'm so thankful that they came, even for such a short time. I just feel like I have the best friends in the world! We had so much fun. Roi made best friends with little Kaelan, and he really misses him. Kaelan is so funny and energetic. I don't think he stopped the entire time he was here. He even wore Roi out! We really missed Paige, but Jack will get to meet her when we are up for Spring Break. Jessica says that Kaelan will marry Paige, but Katrina says that it is up to Paige! Out of our friends, she is the only girl, so she's got lots of choices! :)  Saturday was our only full day, so we did what we always used to do. We spent some time shopping at Target and we went out to eat at Don Pablos. We spent some time planning a summer vacation to Gatlinburg too. After we put the boys to bed, we watched the Sex and the City movie. I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked (as usual), but at least I got some! And kudos to Jessica for making a 500 mile trip with a two year old in tow!!! She had to leave fairly early on Sunday so she could meet up with her brother, who lives about 45 minutes from us, for lunch and also so she could make it back home at a decent hour. On Sunday Katrina, Colin, Jack, and I just hung out until she had to go to the airport. She enjoyed that extra time to have Jack all to herself too! Such a fun weekend and now we are counting down the days until we can hang out again.

I can't believe I'm posting this one of my sick, tired, and un-showered self, but it's the only one we have of the 3 of us!

I have lots of catching up to do, but right now I'm going to choose a shower over blogging. I'll just post a few pictures in the meantime. Next weekend I'll do a big catch up post.

2 trips to the doctor, 1 sleepless (and I do mean NO sleep, like not even 5 minutes) night, throwing up, lots of coughing, a congested nose...

We finally figured out what was causing the throwing up and the cold symptoms. He has RSV. Thursday night I was up ALL night with Jack because with every breath he took, you could hear rattling congestion. Finally at 3am I had to call the doctor. They wanted him to come in first thing in the morning. We took him in, and sure enough, he has RSV. We have to give him breathing treatments every 4-6 hours.  The doctor said his lungs are clear, but we are still doing the breathing treatments to be safe. It was SO scary and sad to see the little guy sick, but I think he is on the road to recovery. Despite the bad situation, we are very glad that he is still eating really well, his lungs are clear, he's still in good spirits, and that he seems to be fighting it off. I've been camped out right next to his crib for the past 2 nights making sure his breathing is normal at night when he sleeps.

I'm still in denial that I have to head back to my classroom in less than 2 weeks. But we do have lots of visitors to look forward to until then. Katrina and Jessica will be here Friday for the weekend. Then we are headed to Venice to visit Colin's parents on Wednesday and Thursday, and then my parents and sister will be here for the week when I return to work.  It will be Katrina, Jessica, and Courtney's first time meeting baby Jack, so I'm really excited to introduce the little man to them!!!!

Ending with some pictures. I'm still reading and figuring out all that can be done with the new camera, so bear with me. I know the lighting isn't great in some of the pictures I've been taking. Any one have any suggestions on books for beginning photography???

Sorry we didn't get to take any pictures yesterday, but here is one to hold you over until we get a chance. Last night he went to bed at the normal time and didn't get up until 5:00! Hopefully this is a new trend. He still has a cold, but we are hoping he will be over it SOON! 

7 Hours

Last night we put Jack in his crib at 8:30, and we didn't hear from him until...

3:40!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!

We had a bit of a scare this week. On Wednesday, every time I fed Jack he would throw up. I had my 6 week postpartum appointment (6 weeks!? can you believe this kid is already a month and half!), and I had it all planned out to the minute. I had to get myself showered and ready, wake him up, get him dressed, feed him, and get out the door by 9:30 to make it to my appointment on time. Well, I got him fed and he threw up all over both of us. That continued at each feeding. By the time 6:00 rolled around and he was still doing it, Colin called the pediatrician. He mentioned to him that it could be a bug or something might have gotten into my milk, but to keep an eye on it and call them back if it continued in the night. Well, it didn't, and he seemed fine all night. The next day the nurse called me and wanted me to bring him in so the doctor could check him out just in case. I didn't think much of it, and I brought him in. He started going over what it "could" be... pyloric stenosis. He was saying that if it is that, which it's common in first born males, that he would need surgery. Now...I was freaking out on the inside because the way he was talking, it seriously sounded like he thought that it was definitely pyloric stenosis. He hasn't thrown up at all since that day, so it's safe to say that he doesn't have it. I think he just has a little touch of something. When we got home from the doctor that night, he started to get what I guess is a cold. He has a stuffed up nose and is sneezing. I don't know if the throwing up is related to the cold symptoms, but I'm glad he doesn't need surgery! Hopefully he will be better soon! He is still smiley and happy, so it isn't affecting him too much really. 

Colin posted Jack laying on the scale at the doctor's office. 14 pounds 8 ounces he now weighs! That was with his clothes on, so it should be a little less, but still! Big boy!!!

Hopefully everyone is having a good weekend, and enjoying the warm(er) weather up north! Once Jack wakes up from his nap, we are going to take him outside for some pictures. I'll post them on here later today, so check back!

Mama Jama! 14 and a half pounds!!! Someone has been eating their Wheaties...

Because of the freezing temperatures we're experiencing here in Florida, Jack is sporting his "P is for Penguin" shirt. 

Jack just went down for a nap, so I thought I could multitask and update quickly while I eat my Ramen noodles. 

He continues to do wonderfully, and I love love love spending my days (and nights) with him. I'm noticing a LITTLE bit of routine going on lately, which is good. For the most part we just go with the flow though.  He still is sleeping really well at night. We put him down between 8:30 and 9, and during his first stretch he will typically sleep for five hours. Now Colin and I just need to learn that we should go to sleep immediately when we put him down and take advantage!! :)  

He is smiling so much, and it just makes us so happy. I know the lighting in this picture isn't the greatest, but you can see how he has so much expression, and he smiles with his whole face.

(He just sneezed and it woke him up, so I'll have to finish this later.)

Okay... I wanted to make a list of things that he loves right now at this stage. I feel like time is going so fast, and I want to be able to remember everything!

*bath time. It really relaxes him, and it seems like he would stay in there forever if you would let him. 

*being held, especially when you walk around with him. He's a little man who likes to be on the move. We were meeting my friend for dinner the other night, and each time I had to stop for a red light, he would fuss. Immediately when the car started to move again, he was happy. Also the new way he likes to be held is facing out so he can get in on all the action.

*back time. He especially loves his Baby Einstein mat that he was on in all of those pictures I posted last time. In fact, he is on it right now! The star at the top lights up and plays music, and it really excites him. He kicks and punches and stares at that star. He also has started cooing, and he definitely does it while he's on the activity mat. He bats at all of the colorful things hanging around him too. Here's a picture of him right now. You can see his arm is in motion and his best bud is laying right next to him like always.  

*I don't have a picture to go along with this one, but he definitely loves to be talked to. He will just stare at whoever is talking to him with his big eyes.
