Pre-K

Well, I come here tonight mostly to announce that THIS happened today:

And, also, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around how we got from THIS...

Someone please tell me. I need an explanation. It blows my mind how fast time flies! :)

Jack had a great first day of Pre-K today! The first words he said to me was, "I had a really really great day today! I'm so happy here, mommy!" Sooooo thankful for that, and prayers for great days ahead. I  really, really want him to continue to love learning and have positive thoughts about being at school.

Colin worked yesterday, but he couldn't miss out on this milestone, so he met us at school after he got off shift early this morning.

I set up a little desk for Jack in my classroom so he can stay busy before and after school. Colin also stocked up today on breakfast bars, juice boxes, etc. to keep in my office so he can just eat breakfast in my classroom in the mornings.

We have lunch at the same time, so I said a quick HI as I walked by with my class today. The TA said he was having a great day.

Legoland

Yesterday a friend and I took Jack and her son to Legoland. Her son is in Jack's class, so it was nice that they got to know each other one on one yesterday. I wanted to do something special with Jack on his last day before starting "real" school, and Legoland it was! We all had fun! We will have to go back. It really was a fun park, without the stresses that Disney has (but I still love and miss Disney!).

Disney Marathon Weekend

my attire all laid out. I had to set my alarm for TWO THIRTY in the morning to be at this race! 

I wanted a picture of my festiveness, but nobody is up at that hour to take a picture, so a selfie it was!

Colin met me at the finish line. This was a really fun race, but I think I'm still partial to Wine and Dine.  Running through Magic Kingdom though, was so awesome. I became emotional at one point while running down Main Street, and I can't even explain why. It was amazing. Running through the castle was also really fun. I didn't train at all, as in not one single mile of running since my last race, which was Wine and Dine over two months ago. So I really didn't have high expectations for myself on this one. I just wanted to go have a good time and finish it. It only slowed me down by about 10 minutes from Wine and Dine where I trained my butt off, never missing one day of training! I thought that was kind of interesting. I also stopped to go to the bathroom twice and stopped and walked so I could text Colin because he was having trouble finding a way into Epcot with all the road closures. So really, I probably could've finished in about the same time without those stops. Kinda crazy and kinda makes me not want to waste any time training haha! Training is so incredibly time consuming, and if you do it properly, I feel like you have to put running at the tip top of your list of priorities. Hard to do in my situation! The difference between training and not though, was that I was sore for a couple of days after this one! Also when I stopped to get my checked bag after the race, my calf completely cramped and I couldn't move my leg. I sort of panicked for a second and then I downed 2 bananas and I was fine.

Christmas 2013

I'll let the pictures do the talking tonight. We had an amazing Christmas break, filled with delicious food, thoughtful and generous gifts, laughter, fun (with lots of chaos in between, of course), and LOVE! Very thankful for another Christmas spent with our wonderful families. Everyone made it so special and memorable for our kids (and us, too)! We are very blessed.

Christmas Eve:

We had fun making cookies for Santa and his crew. We made peanut butter cookies with Reese cups in the middle. Very simple and fun for the kids. 

About this, I will say for the record and for documentation... I take the kids to church most Sundays. However, the girls are always in the nursery. Jack comes with me often, so he is used to it. We got everyone ready to go to Christmas Eve mass at 6pm. We got there about 40 minutes early, as the children's mass fills up fast, and we wanted to be able to sit. They colored, sat quietly, listened to the Christmas carols nicely for the entire time until mass began. Then, we made it about 20 minutes, max, before I looked at Colin and said, "Should we just leave?" :(:(:( The culprit way mostly Erin and a little bit of Grace. Jack was great, but like I said, he's used to church behavior. We shall try again next year!
