"Daddy's not at a baseball game. Probably him at the fire station. He'll be back tomorrow. Did mommy clean up all my toys? Yeah, her did. Did mommy lock my door? Yeah, mommy has to. Daddy's a boy. Daddy's not here yet. His at work. Yeah. Can you do that for mommy? Sure! You can do that for mommy! Do you like this toy? Do you like this bed? Did daddy fix it? Yeah, him did. I don't see him. His at the fire station. I like going fire station. We play with water. Daddy gets drink of water and mommy gets ice. What else do you get? Do you get tattoo? Yeah, I don't want it anymore. I don't know what you're saying. What does that mean?"
Then I heard whispering that I couldn't make out, and now it is silent. I literally had my head stuck against his door for several minutes trying to hear what he was saying. I was texting it all to Colin, so this is verbatim what was said. Such a character!

Misc. Catch Up
I have lots of pictures and updates tonight before I go to bed (yes, it IS 7:13 as I start this blog. I got absolutely not a wink of sleep last night though!).
Jack
The Pledge of Allegiance - This is something that I can take absolutely no credit for teaching Jack. They say this in school daily. He can actually do it without help when he is really focusing, but this is the best I could get on video. He is picking up on absolutely everything these days, and the kid does NOT forget a thing. He can identify about 75% of the letters, and he knows a few sounds. He talks and talks and talks...and asks questions like crazy! Loves to learn new things as always. His behavior has been really good lately. He understands consequences, so I think that is helping. Such a fun and crazy kid!
Mimi and Papa Visit
We had visitors for 5 days this week. It never fails to be a fun time. We got some extra sleep and lots of breaks from changing babies, feeding babies, bathing babies, laundry, fixing dinner, grocery shopping, etc. The kids had a great time too. Jack loved playing school and making Papa "sit criss cross applesauce" while he holds up letter cards and quizzes him. He always has to the be the teacher! He does so much imitating his teacher! That trip was too short. Come back soon PLEASE!
Pregnancy
I had a check-up today for the pregnancy. Everything looks great, but she said I have a lot of water weight (duh). The heartbeat was 143 beats per minute. Blood pressure is perfect, and I passed my glucose screening test. Main symptoms - leg cramps at night, restless legs at night, heartburn (but not constant), and...of course...SWELLING!
Grace
Here she is just hanging out on the desk. She doesn't get to do this usually, so she was being so content. She is really starting to become more and more vocal. She will also answer most yes and no questions with a shake of the head! She's tiny and ornery! She is really into fake laughing about everything. She loves to make you laugh too. So much fun!
Jack and Grace
One of Life's Trials and Tribulations (every last detail)
Yesterday morning Grace woke up around 7:00 with a completely dry diaper with a tiny speck of blood on it. She sleeps about 12 hours every night, so it is very normal for her to wake up soaked. I knew this wasn't typical, and assumed she had a UTI, so I made an appointment with our pediatrician. I went ahead and went into work. Colin had assured me that he would be fine managing both kids on his own at the doctor. Now, this is not an easy feat EVER, but the nurse on the phone told me that they would probably have to catheterize Grace, so I knew it would be even harder. I got to work and was telling some of my coworkers about our morning, and they were telling me to leave...so I did. I had planned on coming back to work after the appointment. I met Colin and kids at the doctor's office. The NP was thinking it was a yeast infection from being on antibiotics a couple of weeks ago. She said that will cause kids to hold it since it burns. In the back of my mind I was thinking that makes sense, but I wasn't buying that Grace was thinking that in the middle of the night. We had collected a small amount of pee by putting her in the bathroom sink while we were getting ready...with the drain stopper in. They tested that, and it came back with very minimal bacteria, so no UTI. The NP said that even though it was most likely not a UTI, she wanted to do a catheter and get a sterile sample anyway. At that point, Jack was getting a little impatient in the room, so I took him to the van to watch a DVD, and Colin stayed in the room with Grace. Colin had texted to me that they were unable to get it in, and that the NP said it was probably either because their nurses aren't too experienced in doing that or because of her tiny anatomy. So they told Colin to take her in to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in downtown Orlando where their nurses do this several times a day. We were supposed to just go in, get the sterile sample, and leave. We talked about taking Jack to day care, but the pediatrician is in Ocoee, which is already halfway to that hospital. Soooo, we all 4 headed to APCH. I was a blubbering mess at this point. At times I jump to conclusions and think of worst possible scenarios. Colin was calm, just thinking we need to go get the pee sample. We quickly got checked in once we got there. Again, Colin went back with Grace while they put in the catheter. I stayed with Jack out in the waiting room. They had a Child Life Specialist out there leading crafts, games, and activities, so Jack was in all his glory. I didn't have to entertain him a bit at that point. They were back there for quite some time. They came out, and Colin had to call the pediatrician to tell them they only got 6cc of pee. The nurse told him to hang out there while she talks to the doctor to see what he wants to do next because that was concerning that there was such little pee when she had only peed a tiny bit in the 15 hour time frame. There should've been much more than that. So, we went to the play area and waited for the call back. The doctor called back and said that is definitely concerning, and that he was ordering a pelvic and renal ultrasound. We had to wait about a half an hour for that, so we went to the cafeteria. After we ate, Jack was all over the place - lobby, waiting room, gift shop, playground. He was starting to get difficult to control and entertain. Colin went back with Grace for the ultrasound, which seemed to take forever. My phone broke at one point, so I asked the receptionist to walk us back to the ultrasound room. Grace was being held down and screaming her head off. The nurses were going back and forth reporting things to the radiologist, and I was about to have a nervous breakdown. I was asking Colin a million questions, and of course he didn't know any of the answers. The ultrasound technicians were just telling him that they just take the pictures and that they can't go over results. I was starting to lose my mind. They told us that they radiologist needs to get on the phone with Dr. Yarckin (ped), and that we would be talked to very soon. At this point I knew SOMETHING was not good. We went back out to the waiting room where Jack was tantruming all over the place and throwing flashcards. He had been excellent all day and having a great time, but he was getting extremely tired. At that moment in the waiting room, Colin and I didn't even care or correct the behavior like we typically would. All I could do was just sit there and hold Grace and stare. Dr. Yarchkin called the front desk, and Colin went up to talk to him. Jack was continuing to tantrum, and he was an hour past his bedtime. So once Colin got off the phone and told me 1) we would be there overnight, 2) it isn't a tumor or any kind of mass and 3) they need to run another test immediately...I took Jack home. I wanted to get him his nap and someone to come stay with him. The only thing I cared about was getting back to Gracie (and Colin). I made arrangements for Kelly and family to take Jack until 9PM, and then Beth and family took him over night. Beth then took him to school this morning, and I was able to pick him up around 2:30. I threw some stuff in a bag - pajamas and slippers for Colin and pajamas for Grace. I didn't think about pajamas for myself, toothbrushes, phone chargers, .... anything else unfortunately. I raced back to the hospital where Grace had been admitted to a room. I learned there was a lot I didn't know. I was too occupied with Jack, and Colin was too occupied with Grace for us to have the best communication. But in between that time, she had a diagnosis - intussusception. The "test" that they did just as I was leaving was pretty much the worst possible time that I could've left...but we didn't know. The radiologist explained everything to Colin, which of course really upset him. He was going over all possible scenarios, one being immediate emergency surgery and another being surgery later that day. But he was going to give her an "air enema" to attempt to straighten out the intestines back to their normal place. He had a huge x-ray type screen in the room, so he would know right away if it worked or not. THANK God that it corrected her intestines 100%. Although our day was super stressful and incredibly scary, this could've been so much worse, even fatal. Our pediatrician said this is always a medical emergency - and ER visit or a 911 call. Because we caught it SO early, and because of pediatrician is amazing, no surgery was needed and she is absolutely back to her normal self already. Most likely she wasn't peeing because she wasn't really eating or drinking much the day before due to an upset stomach. We feel incredibly blessed and grateful for answered prayers for our baby girl. Also thanks to everyone who helped - Kelly, who had to leave at 5AM for California, Beth who has two kids of her own to take care of, my great 2nd grade coworkers who delivered dinner to us tonight, Shorty who stayed an extra 3.5 hours at work filling in for Colin this morning, and anyone who said a prayer for our Grace Elizabeth! Colin, Grace, and I ended up staying the night in the hospital, only for observation. She didn't need to have any further tests at all. She had an x-ray at 4:30 this morning, and our pediatrician showed up early to discharge us. We were out of there around 10:00. I've been with Grace all day today, and she couldn't be happier. She is back to being herself, happy, silly, and eating a ton! In hindsight, someone was seriously looking over us. So many things happened that led us to the diagnosis. If they would've been able to catheterize her at the pediatrician's office, we wouldn't have gone to Arnold Palmer probably. The main thing being that we took her in yesterday morning over a dry diaper and a speck of blood. Not peeing isn't a symptom of intussusception, but it definitely led us to this diagnosis! PRAISE!!!!!
That took me over an hour. Now it is bedtime for me!!! And yay for a long (hopefully relaxing) weekend!
