We had a fabulous time on our AFT in SC right before school started back up. It was the first year that was actually semi-relaxing. I think the kids are getting to the age where they can be safe and entertained for the most part. We spent lots of time at the pool. Most of these pictures were taken during Mike's obstacle courses that he was setting up for the kids. My camera was acting up (or I didn't know what I was doing) and not focusing on the correct subject, so I had many blurry images.

My Classroom 
Here are some pictures of my classroom after I got it all set up for another school year. I didn't have to move rooms this year, so that makes it so much easier. This starts year number 11 of teaching. I have a great group of 2nd graders this year!

Back to School

The kids have done AWESOME transitioning back into the school routine. We leave home at 7:00, and I don't get to work until 7:30ish. I don't know why it's such a long process...from our house to their school to my school, it's probably 5 miles total. Hopefully that will speed up as we get used to our new regimen.  They've all gladly gone into their new classrooms all week. One morning Erin started to tear up, but she snapped out of it very quickly and told me she was just shy. Grace is my only NON morning person, and she can be a challenge to get motivated to get dressed, eat breakfast, etc. in the mornings. Jack is loving kindergarten. Everyday he summarizes the books his teacher reads to the class. It's funny because based on his descriptions, I can always guess what book he's referring to (He never remembers the titles.). After he came to my classroom on the first day of school he said, "mom, you were right! I was nervous at first, but kindergarten is so awesome!" Grace doesn't share many details, despite my many questions, but she has no complaints. On the first day, when I picked Erin up, she said, "mom, can we come back every day?"  They have chapel every morning at 9:00, which they enjoy. Grace has Pre-K from after chapel until noon, and then she goes to a separate room for lunch and "after care".

They all had good behavior reports, so I took them to RaceTrac for frozen yogurt on Friday afternoon. Praying that trend continues. Jack did have 2 warnings (according to him)---once for getting a drink when the teacher said for the class to line up and once for whispering to his friend when he was supposed to be sleeping. I think they have a very brief "down time" at the beginning of the year for the kindergarteners to rest.

This was an S handwriting page. The teacher had him draw pictures of things that start with an S and then write the ending sounds ---saw, sock, snake, sandwich, sun, six, sharpener, star, skunk, square, shoe, stocking.

The teacher read the book No, David, and Jack had to fill in the circle map with the bad choices David does in the story. Throwing food (love the lines he drew to show the motion), chewing gum, cutting in line, and writing on his desk. 

 More Erin B-Day

Erin got some baby stuff for her birthday. Mimi and Papa got her this cute crib with some homemade bedding that she loves to play with. 

We had pizza and cake on Erin's actual birthday. This was the cake Colin picked up. She also brought mini cupcakes to school to share with her friends. And today we did our birthday tradition of having Donut King. I think that's a wrap on sugar for a WHILE!!!!

Our washer was out of commission for about a week. It was crazy how much laundry we accumulated. I usually do laundry daily in order to keep up. Thank God Colin fixed it yesterday!!!
