Happy May!!! 24 school days until Summer Vacation...not that I'm counting down!

I have several pictures to share this morning. After daily blogging alllll the minutiae of my everyday life for so long, it feels like so much has happened since I was here last.

We did a redo of our Easter Bunny food. The different brand of chocolate chips worked much better.
We went to the fire station to visit daddy on Easter:

I snapped this one day as I dropped my class off at lunch. :)

Love this pic of my cousin, Grandpa, Dad, and Uncle at a Cubs game.
Girls Weekend 2014 was at the beautiful Clearwater Beach this year. Soo fun. Sooooooo relaxing. I'm not one that's ever been a huge social butterfly. I'd rather have a handful of awesome friends, than a bunch of mediocre ones. I have to say, I hit the jackpot on BFFs. Wish we could do this more, but this is one awesome weekend that we will do once a year forever!!! Lots of laughing, staying up hours past our usual bedtime, talking, dining out in peace, shopping, beach, and much needed girl time. Mike used his travel points to book our hotel room and also pay for the girls' flights. Katrina used her bank points to get restaurant gift cards, therefore, we even had free meals. The hotel had continental breakfast, too. A big thanks to the awesome husbands who picked up our slack for 3 days so we could enjoy a CAREFREE mommy time-out.

While I was away:
G enjoyed some one-on-one with Grandma and Grandpa.
J and E enjoyed some time with Daddy. Colin made homemade pizzas with the kids. Erin looks to be enjoying it!!!

Jack enjoyed some one-on-one with Uncle Mike.

Jack has been learning at such great speed. He's always loved to write, but the words he wrote had been by memory or by asking us how to spell words. He would memorize how to spell certain things, and write the same things all the time. But recently he has been using inventive spelling without asking me how to spell words. His teacher told me that he did awesome on his Pre-K assessment. I will be signing him up for kindergarten this month. Grace is all set to go for Pre-K in January, too.

Police, Cop, Bad Guy
He had a rough day this week, where he was being disruptive in music class. After school I told him to go to his room and write a note saying he's sorry to the music teacher. I'm sorry for being bad, Mrs. Mobley. Jack
Thank God he got back on track the next day!
Erin was applying lip gloss before school:

Grace accidentally swallowed half a heart, from one those friendship necklaces. Erin came running into our room one night saying, "My sister just swallowed plastic!" We never found it, so therefore she had to get an x-ray this week. No sign of it, so apparently it's gone and we missed it. Glad Grace is past her extreme fear of all things medical after her bout with intussusception. She looks happy to be on the x-ray table!
Purse, sunglasses..."going to Publix'
This is a rare occurrence. He fell asleep when we were waiting for G to finish her gymnastics class. Must've been a tiring Friday at school!
Have an awesome weekend!!!!

Day 46

Blueberry Picking:

Today we ventured out to a very rural area of Clermont and went blueberry picking. There were all kinds of egg hunts and Easter festivities going on around locally today, but we really just needed a break from the candy, so this was our alternative family fun day. We picked over 3 lbs. of blueberries, and the kids looooved it! It was a lots of fun. They had a pavilion area with frisbees, bubbles, snacks, etc. They also sold blueberry jam, blueberry lemonade, blueberry muffins, and some other blueberry variations. It was a great place!

I just made a tasty, healthy smoothie and included - ice, blueberries, a banana, flax seed, vitamin powder, fiber powder, protein powder, lemon zest, and Greek yogurt. I'm going to have to look up some more blueberry recipes.

I did some messing around with my camera settings for the landscape pictures. I was taking them from the moving car on the way to the blueberry farm. It was such a scenic route that I couldn't resist.

Dying Eggs:
I don't recall ever doing this with the kids yet. I'm pretty sure this was a first. I basically did everything, while they watched (The did dictate the colors for me to dip the eggs into.), but I think they still enjoyed it.

Family Date Night:
Colin was craving a steak, and we didn't have a babysitter, so we made it a family date tonight. The kids were decently behaved, other than the various spills. We ate outside, which always helps me feel better about being such a loud family. I always feel bad when we go out to eat and sit by people who are just out for some relaxation. We aren't exactly the definition of relaxation... Great food at Outback, as always!
