Anybody that has a catchy title for our blog, please give us ideas! In the meantime I've named it after one of our favorite DMB songs. I don't have anything new to report (other than Jack saying mama a lot nowadays!). so I'll just post up the pictures I have on my phone from recently. :)
Shopping at Target with mommy
He woke up with a stye on his left eyelid on Monday.
I took him to the pediatrician to make sure it was just a stye. I had to have surgery on my eye for something that looked like this when I was a toddler. His doctor said it was a stye, and he gave me drops to put in several times a day. When he woke up the next morning it was gone, so I never even used the drops. We waited over an hour at the doctor, and Jack was a trooper!
Happy about another pool day!

Yay! Our computer is back up and running. The other day, I noticed the 's' key wasn't working. As the day went on, more and more keys would just stop working. I couldn't even type a sentence because so many letters weren't working. So annoying! We ordered a new keyboard off of ebay, and now the computer is like brand new!
I've also been out of commission due to a neck injury. I woke up Wednesday with a sore neck, but it was nothing that was going to ruin my day or anything...just an annoying soreness. Then I was sitting on the floor while Jack was in the bathtub. He tipped over and went under water, so I made a quick movement to pick him up. Apparently I moved the wrong way because it all went downhill from there. I could barely get up off of the floor. My neck pretty much wouldn't move without excruciating pain. I got in to the chiropractor that day luckily. He took x-rays, and told me that he could fix what was wrong within four visits. According to him, I should be completely healed sometime this week, which would be fabulous. The pain isn't NEARLY what it was that day, but it is still annoying to not be able to move my neck the full range. I'm sure I haven't been the most pleasant person to be around either (ahem...).
We got Jack a baby pool to put out on our new deck. He loves to crawl and splash around in it. He also enjoys crawling in and out of the pool by himself.
Jack and I surprised Colin on his birthday on Friday by going to the fire station twice. We brought him Jimmy Johns for lunch and then we came back for dinner, cake, and a party in the evening. He had a very happy 29th birthday. He said he especially loved when we were walking towards him and Jack had the gift bag in his hand while he was focused on his dad with a huge smile. These pictures were taken in the back of the fire station. I wanted to get our family picture taken here too because this is the exact spot Colin and I first met back in January 2006. :)
He loves to play with the TV stand. This kid is so curious and loves to navigate all around our house seeing what he can find and get into! He also loves to climb on anything that he can.
All four of us packed up and went to Lake Louisa State Park this morning. We had been there once before. They had a beach with a lifeguard and a nice nature trail. Well, today we were there for approximately ten minutes before we came back home. We first went to the beach part. There was a sign that said BEACH CLOSED, and it was all overgrown with weeds and grass. So we moved along to the nature trail. Bugs, especially mosquitos, were swirming all around us, so we just left. Apparently Roi was worn out by the small bit of walking we did get to do.
Lately Jack has been really interested in his hands. He studies them while opening and closing his fists.

Naps
We have Jack on a pretty good routine, but we sort of started a bad habit of rocking him before he goes to sleep. I guess it's not really a bad habit because we've loved doing it, and I think we would continue to do it if he wasn't fighting naps so badly. He isn't getting enough sleep during the day, and so we just feel like it's necessary to try to help him take better naps. He will willingly go down at night, but when it comes to naps, he wants nothing to do with with going in his crib while everyone else is awake. He doesn't want to miss out on any of the excitement. Sooo, we've started trying to train him to fall asleep on his own at nap. Yesterday I put him in his crib and he screamed for a half hour, with me going in to check on him every ten minutes or so. Finally after a half hour of screaming, he gave up and laid down to fall asleep. This morning I laid him in his crib at the normal morning nap time, and he screamed for 8 minutes, then laid his head against the bumper (as shown in the picture) to fall asleep. It was so funny! After about 10 minutes of sleeping like that, he finally laid down and slept for the rest of his nap. Hopefully the amount of time that he cries will continue to be less and less, and we can help this kid take good naps. :) I really can't complain because he sleeps like a champ at night!

Celebrating 2 great years of marriage. :) Thanks to Amanda who came and hung out with the Jackster, we were able to get out and enjoy a movie together. I think we've seen a total of 2 movies in the theater since he's been born, so it was a treat!
You want me to ride in a shopping cart? I don't think so! I'd rather be on my dad's shoulders.

Walking towards the ocean
Jack is extremely mobile now, which means I can no longer put him on the floor and go do whatever I need to do. He was playing with his toys in the living room the other day while I was switching my laundry. The next thing I knew, he was at my feet in the laundry room. Later that day we were playing in his room when the doorbell rang. I went to go answer the door, and Kelly walked in and immediately wanted to see Jack. I told her that he was playing in his room, but sure enough, in that 30 second time frame, he had managed to make his way into the bathroom. He can crawl all around the house so quickly! He certainly keeps us on our toes, but it's such much fun.
He has always been such a great sleeper, but for the past (and hopefully this is just a phase) couple of weeks he has been waking up so darn early - like 5:00!! He wakes up and stands up in his crib yelling for us. We are working on that one because we all need our precious sleep around here. A typical night for him would be to go to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 and wake up between 6:30 and 7:00. We aren't sure what is causing him to wake up earlier, but we are going to get to the bottom of it!!! And it's not because he is sleeping too much during the day...oh dear, naps are a whole other issue. :) Again, just a phase...........
Everything is great here, and I'm still soaking up every second of my summer - loving it!!! It's flying by so fast. In a couple of weeks we will venture off for a friends "vacation" in Tennessee. We rented a lodge in the mountains for a long weekend. We are SO looking forward to it, but I hesitate to call it a vacation when we'll be bringing our extremely active and energetic little one! :) It will be so much fun to get to hang out with some of our best friends! This will be the first of many annual summer friends vacations with them.
Today Colin and I are going to go move my teaching materials from one school to the other. Thus begins me working to get my classroom set up. I'm sure I'll be going in to school at least 1-2 days a week until school starts. Hopefully everyone has a great week! Sign our guestbook to let us know you've stopped by. :)
